Framing Analysis
Lebanese army units deployed in Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh on Tuesday following Israeli withdrawal from the area as the first test of a U.S.-brokered plan for phased Israeli pullbacks in exchange for army confiscation of Hezbollah weapons in a 10 km strip of southern Lebanon. The deployment occurred after fighting that began in March, leaving dozens of villages razed and infrastructure destroyed with tens of thousands displaced. The army instructed residents to remain outside the town until security stabilizes.
