Dale Sanders, 91, of Tennessee, finished the 2,193-mile Appalachian Trail on Monday at Mount Katahdin after starting in West Virginia on September 6, 2025. He fell 71 times, including one requiring hospitalization, and reclaimed the record he first set in 2017 at age 82. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy defines a thru-hike as completing all sections in any order within a year.
