Framing Analysis
The yen rose for a third consecutive session on Monday, reaching a high of 155.20 per dollar before closing up 0.45 percent at 156.65, its strongest level in about three months. Coordinated yen-buying intervention by Japan and the United States last week, combined with a more than $4 per barrel decline in oil prices and U.S. President Trump's restraint toward Iran, coincided with the currency's gains against the dollar, euro, and sterling. Japan's finance ministry stated it will not hesitate to take further action if needed.
