The U.S. Justice Department has charged 11 people with operating a sham marriage scheme primarily involving Chinese nationals over a period of at least a decade. Foreign nationals allegedly paid up to $100,000 each to participate, while U.S. citizens received payments as high as $30,000. Attorney General Todd Blanche described the case as one of the largest marriage fraud prosecutions in U.S. history.
