Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey will screen in true 70mm IMAX format at only 41 theaters globally because IMAX has not produced new film projectors in approximately 50 years and must retrofit existing units from the late 1960s. IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond has stated that demand exceeds current capacity. A Swedish Viking center has separately reported damage to a vessel used during filming and is seeking compensation.
