The Supreme Court issued rulings Monday addressing presidential power to remove officials at the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Reserve Board. In one decision the Court held 6-3 that the president may remove FTC members despite statutory limits; in the other it held 5-4 that for-cause protections for Federal Reserve governors remain constitutional. Trump stated he would seek to remove FTC member Rebecca Slaughter and claimed authority to remove Fed governor Lisa Cook.
