Republican Rep. Tom Kean Jr. of New Jersey has been absent from the House since his last vote on March 5, missing more than 140 votes while addressing a personal medical issue. House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke with Kean on April 24 and stated that the matter was personal and that recovery was expected. Kean issued a public statement on April 27 confirming his doctors anticipated a complete recovery and full return to duties.
