Spain will impose border checks on arrivals from Italy starting midnight on August 8 and continuing until September 7, in direct response to Italy's one-month suspension of visa-free travel between the two countries. The measures follow a surge of crossings from Morocco into Ceuta on July 30-31 that Spanish officials described as deadly and destabilizing.
