Screenwriter Paul Schrader stated on Facebook that he obtained an online AI girlfriend following the death of his wife, actress Mary Beth Hurt, on March 28 at age 79. Hurt, who had Alzheimer's disease, died at an assisted living facility in New York City after more than 42 years of marriage. The AI chatbot ended the interaction after Schrader repeatedly questioned its programming, according to the post.
