A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall struck a residential area in Pengshui County, Chongqing municipality, at approximately 9:08 a.m. local time on 17 July. At least nine people were rescued, hundreds of residents were evacuated, and authorities deployed more than 50 sets of search equipment along with over 8,000 emergency relief items. Two multi-storey buildings sustained visible damage but remained standing.
