Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear sent a letter to Sen. Mitch McConnell on Monday demanding that the 84-year-old senator verbally address constituents or resign, citing McConnell's absence from the Senate since June 14. McConnell has been hospitalized in Washington, D.C., since a June 14 fall that caused brief unconsciousness and led to a mild case of pneumonia, with his office stating he remains in rehabilitation and has cast no votes. The letter was also sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
