Framing Analysis
A fiscal 2025 survey by the Hiroshima board of education of 3,630 students found fewer than 20 percent had heard grandparents' stories about the atomic bombing and World War II, half the share recorded a decade earlier. The survey, conducted every five years since 1995 and resumed after cancellation in 2020, marks the first such effort in ten years. Interviewees Makoto Matsumura and Keiko Hiyama discussed the findings in Hiroshima on July 23.
