Naim Qassem, Secretary General of Hezbollah, delivered a televised address on Friday during the Shiite observance of Ashura in which he called for complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory without conditions. The fifth round of direct Israel-Lebanon talks, which began Tuesday and was extended into Friday, is intended to produce a statement of intent toward a permanent end to hostilities. Qassem stated that Israel must depart humiliated and defeated with no normalization or partial presence permitted.
