Framing Analysis
Hakainde Hichilema was re-elected president of Zambia on August 13 with 2,965,326 votes, or 60.49 percent of 4,902,050 valid ballots. Brian Mundubile received 1,856,217 votes, or 37.87 percent. At least ten figures linked to Mundubile were arrested after the government alleged involvement in foreign-linked insurrection plots, while the Electoral Commission suspended vote counting over claims of stolen ballots and violence.
