An F-35B fighter jet crashed on the flightline at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego on Friday morning, resulting in a Class A mishap with the aircraft catching fire after impact. The pilot ejected prior to the crash and was transported to a local medical facility in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The jet was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 11 and had been returning from Middle East operations as part of a six-aircraft formation.
