More than 40,000 residents in Garden Grove, southern California, received evacuation orders after a cooling system failure on a methyl methacrylate tank at an aerospace manufacturing facility. Orange County Fire Authority officials described risks of thermal runaway or explosion and stated the measures were not precautionary. A hazmat team is attempting to depressurize the tank while the cause remains under investigation.
