Congo authorities have confirmed 6,041 Ebola cases and 2,911 deaths in the current outbreak, the largest in the country's history and caused by the Bundibugyo strain with no approved vaccines or treatments. Response teams operate across six provinces including Ituri, North Kivu and Haut-Uele, with the virus spilling into two new health zones last week. More than 1,360 recoveries have been recorded.
