Representatives of the Congolese government and the Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group reached agreement on a roadmap for peace during negotiations in Geneva. The plan builds on a prior U.S.-brokered framework from Doha and has received support from the United States, Qatar, the African Union, and Switzerland. It does not include binding resolutions, while fighting in eastern DRC has continued to cause civilian deaths and displacement.
