Framing Analysis
An AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey reports that roughly one-quarter of Americans view the United States as standing above all other countries, while 44 percent see it as one of the greatest alongside others and about 30 percent say better countries exist. The share viewing other countries as superior rose from 19 percent in a 2016 AP-NORC poll. The portion deeming a democratically elected government highly important to national identity fell from 80 percent in 2021 to about two-thirds.
