Zoox, acquired by Amazon in 2020, unveiled a redesigned robotaxi on Wednesday that operates without traditional controls and has carried more than 500,000 riders in Las Vegas. The vehicle features bidirectional four-wheel steering, 40 sensors, and capacity for four passengers at up to 75 mph while the company awaits federal exemptions and prepares paid service. Competitors such as Waymo have already scaled to hundreds of thousands of weekly paid rides.
