Chinese President Xi Jinping met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo during his first visit to Egypt since 2016, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. The two countries renewed their 2014 Comprehensive Strategic Partnership amid reported growth in non-petroleum trade reaching nearly $20.7 billion by the end of 2025. Egyptian exports to China rose nearly 200 percent to $840.8 million in the first half of 2026, with China remaining Egypt’s largest trading partner in non-petroleum goods.
