The analysis compared current conditions to a pre-industrial baseline without 1.4°C of warming and reported return intervals shifting from roughly once every 40 years to every 2-15 years depending on the region. More than 3.8 million hectares burned, thousands were displaced, and millions faced hazardous smoke exposure.
