Three Canadian National Railway freight trains carrying combustible cargo were stopped by encroaching wildfires near Armstrong, Ontario, on 13 July 2026. Crews were safely evacuated with no injuries reported amid more than 160 active fires across the province. Rail traffic was suspended as a precaution after flames reached the corridor approximately 32 kilometres from the community.
