Wildfires in Spain’s Castellón region and France’s Gironde department have burned more than 46,300 hectares and forced the evacuation of over 235,000 residents. Authorities in both countries issued orders citing rapid fire spread under arid conditions. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez described the Gironde fire as erratic and wind-generating before conditions eased overnight.
