Framing Analysis
Vance Boelter, 59, pleaded guilty in June to six counts including murder, stalking, and gun-related charges in connection with the June 14, 2025 attacks that killed Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and wounded state Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. The plea was part of an agreement to avoid the death penalty, with sentencing scheduled for Thursday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis resulting in two consecutive life sentences plus 40 years. Boelter used a silicone mask and police uniform disguise and carried a list of more than 45 officials.
