The US State Department named Froun, Srifa, and Zawtar al-Gharbiya as the first pilot zone areas in southern Lebanon on Monday. The designation follows a June 26 framework agreement between Lebanon, Israel, and the US after six rounds of negotiations. The Lebanese military is to assume security responsibilities and oversee Hezbollah disarmament as Israeli forces conduct a phased withdrawal.
