The United States delegation left a July 27 UN Security Council meeting on the Ukraine war when France's ambassador began speaking. The action followed a July 24 General Assembly vote in which the US joined nine other countries, including Russia, North Korea, and Nicaragua, in opposing extension of Volker Türk's term as UN high commissioner for human rights. US envoy Dan Negrea attributed the exit to France's rhetoric.
