President Donald Trump returned to the White House just over 18 months ago. The United States has imposed tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum, lumber and automobiles, including an additional 50 percent levy on approximately C$28 billion of Canadian goods last week. Canada responded on Tuesday with dollar-for-dollar counter-tariffs covering an equal value of US goods effective 8 September.
