Framing Analysis
US and Iranian negotiators reached a memorandum of understanding to extend an existing ceasefire for 60 days and begin nuclear programme negotiations, according to Al-Monitor reporting. The proposed terms include unrestricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian mine removal within 30 days, and lifting of the US naval blockade, but remain subject to final approval by President Donald Trump. Both sides have accused each other of prior truce violations, and fresh US strikes on Bandar Abbas were followed by Iranian retaliation.
