Framing Analysis
A study published in iScience used fMRI scans on awake dogs to measure brain activity when viewing human faces displaying different emotions. Researchers found distinct patterns for fearful expressions versus angry or sad ones, and heightened activity for happy faces in the left temporal cortex. The work involved eight dogs and builds on prior findings that dogs lack a dedicated face-processing brain region.
