On August 24 2026 Ukraine and Russia exchanged 10 prisoners each with Ukrainian soldiers returning via Belarus after fighting in Donetsk. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham made his first visit to Kyiv as prime minister and pledged continued support including new UK-developed cruise missiles. The swap is part of thousands of exchanges since February 2022 while the UK advances Project Brakestop to replace Storm Shadow systems.
