Official data show UK GDP expanded 0.4% in the second quarter following 0.6% growth in the first quarter, with a 1.2% year-on-year increase. Services, manufacturing, computer programming, advertising and pharmaceuticals contributed to the quarterly gain while power generation and sewerage declined. Month-on-month figures recorded 0.3% growth in June after May was revised to zero.
