Taipei Times and Bloomberg report that Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Co is considering a ¥1 trillion ($6.33 billion) investment to develop a 500-megawatt AI data center in northern Japan’s Akita Prefecture, potentially making it the country’s largest such facility. Total spending including suppliers could reach ¥2 trillion, with construction likely handled by a Japanese consortium. A Mubadala spokesperson declined to comment on the proposal.
