The 14:24 London Victoria to Eastbourne service derailed near Lewes at approximately 15:54 BST, with three carriages descending an embankment. Initial RAIB findings and CCTV evidence point to a track geometry irregularity at the site, where the train was traveling at 65 mph in a 70 mph zone. Two people sustained serious injuries and 18 others lesser injuries, all of whom have since been discharged.
