Todd Blanche formally rescinded a $1.8 billion compensation fund and received limited retroactive audit immunity as part of settling President Donald Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS. The immunity applies only to claims open at the time of settlement and does not cover future tax filings. Holdout Republican senators have agreed to advance Blanche’s nomination following his July 15, 2026 appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
