TikTok and ByteDance agreed to a $400 million settlement with the US Department of Justice resolving allegations of violations of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. The agreement includes $300 million paid immediately and $100 million contingent on vacating a prior Musical.ly consent decree. The case stems from a 2024 lawsuit and follows ByteDance’s January restructuring commitment.
