Governor Greg Abbott stated on ABC's This Week that data center developers bypassed local support and thereby created their own opposition. National polling from the Annenberg Public Policy Center showed opposition to new data centers in respondents' communities rising from just under 50 percent in March to 60 percent by summer. More than 500 U.S. jurisdictions have paused large data center projects.
