Framing Analysis
Tewolde Gebremariam was appointed CEO of Air India on August 5, succeeding Campbell Wilson who resigned after leading the airline since 2022. The change follows the June 2025 crash of Air India Flight 171, a London-bound Boeing 787-8 that killed 241 of 242 people on board and 19 on the ground, triggering regulatory scrutiny and safety notices. Gebremariam previously served as Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines until his 2022 retirement after more than a decade in the role.
