Air traffic controllers at Sydney Airport rescinded takeoff and taxi clearances for a Virgin Australia 737 and a Qantas aircraft while the planes remained more than 1 km apart. The incident occurred during a supervisory or training session and was referred to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau four days later. A separate near-miss between Jetstar and Qatar Airways aircraft took place the same morning, with two additional Qantas conflicts reported on 27 July.
