The Supreme Court issued an order permitting Alabama to implement its 2023 Republican-drawn congressional map for upcoming elections. A lower court had previously found the map intentionally discriminated against Black voters and ordered a different map with two opportunity districts that was used in 2024. The 2023 map is projected to produce a 6-1 Republican delegation compared with the 5-2 split under the court map.
