South Korea's bourse operator triggered a buy-side sidecar on the KOSPI, suspending program trading for five minutes at 9:06 a.m. after the index opened more than 5 percent higher and KOSPI 200 futures rose above the 5 percent threshold. The KOSPI reached 7,153.42 points, up 6.01 percent, by 9:11 a.m., following overnight gains on Wall Street including rises above 10 percent in Micron and Sandisk shares.
