Sonam Wangchuk, aged 59, ended a 26-day hunger strike late Thursday night after beginning it on June 28 in solidarity with the Cockroach movement. The action protested paper leaks in medical college entrance tests and sought the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Negotiations involving Union ministers and 65 MPs preceded the end of the fast at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
