Karson Hyder, a 22-year-old officer with the Shelby Police Department, was fired and charged with one count of assault inflicting serious injury after a doorbell camera video showed him wrestling and punching Cherrie Moore. The video was posted online on May 29, Hyder surrendered on June 1, and was released on a $10,000 bond ahead of arraignment in Cleveland County Court. Moore sustained a possible broken nose and busted lip; her attorney has called for a felony charge.
