Framing Analysis
Voters in Saxony-Anhalt will elect a new state parliament on Sunday. Current polling shows the AfD at 41-42 percent, well ahead of the CDU at 22-24 percent, a reversal from the 2021 results where the CDU received 37.1 percent and the AfD 20.8 percent. The state is currently governed by a CDU-SPD-FDP coalition, and Germany’s domestic intelligence service classified the AfD in May 2025.
