Framing Analysis
The Qatari LNG tanker Al Rekayyat was struck by a projectile on its port side overnight Tuesday, causing an engine-room fire but leaving its cargo intact; all crew were evacuated and the vessel remained stranded off Oman on Wednesday. U.S. officials stated that two other tankers had been targeted by Iran in recent days, that Washington had revoked Iran's oil-sales license, and that U.S. forces struck Iranian targets overnight. At least four additional oil and gas tankers turned back from the Strait of Hormuz, and the head of the U.N. shipping agency condemned the attacks.
