Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district on August 1, 2026, as Andhra Pradesh's first greenfield international airport since the 2014 bifurcation. The facility, developed by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited under a public-private partnership at a cost exceeding Rs 5,640 crore, is designed to handle six million passengers annually in its initial phase. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 17,900 crore and address a public gathering, with commercial flights shifting from Visakhapatnam airport on August 17, 2026.
