Framing Analysis
Peter Murrell, former chief executive of the Scottish National Party, pleaded guilty to embezzling party funds and received a sentence of five years and three months at Edinburgh High Court on June 23. The embezzlement occurred between 2010 and 2023 through falsified invoices and false accounting codes. Nicola Sturgeon, Murrell's former spouse and former SNP leader, was cleared of wrongdoing in March 2025.
