On June 3, opposition figure Peter Magyar stated via Facebook that Hungary and Ukraine had reached an agreement on rights for Ukraine's ethnic Hungarian minority while traveling in Paris. The statement indicated the deal could enable the first cluster of chapters in Ukraine's EU accession talks to advance. Hungary had maintained a veto on those talks for two years prior to the announcement.
