Ozgur Ozel stated plans on July 21 to form a new party after a Turkish appeals court annulled the 2023 CHP congress and reinstated Kemal Kilicdaroglu as chairman. More than 80 CHP lawmakers attended his parliamentary speech, with most of the party's 135 legislators expected to join the new entity. The CHP was founded by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and currently holds the second-largest bloc in Turkey's 600-seat parliament.
