Framing Analysis
An independent review led by Donna Ockenden examined maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust from 2012 to 2025 and identified 444 cases of potentially avoidable harm to women and 76 cases involving newborn babies. The 401-page report, the largest of its kind in NHS history, prompted apologies from trust leaders and statements from Health Secretary James Murray. Families represented by the Nottingham Maternity Families group have called for a statutory public inquiry.
